A deferment was provided to a conscript with the support of the Human Rights Defender

The Director of a human rights NGO requested the Human Rights Defender’s assistance regarding the issue of providing deferment to a citizen.

As the complainant stated, the conscript is the only child of the family: the parents have passed away. In case of the conscription there would be no one to take care of the family household.

Afterwards, the conscript’s close relative visited the Defender’s Office and informed that the conscript also had health issues.

To resolve the issue, the Office of the Human Rights Defender cooperated with the Ministry of Defense Human Rights and Good Behaviour Centre and the Military Commission.

The Administration of Gegharkunik region and the local self-government body were also contacted. As a result, the citizen was provided with a deferment from military service based on his health condition.

The Human Rights Defender attaches great importance to the established effective and sustainable cooperation with the Ministry of Defender, other state and self-government bodies, as well as civil society representatives in the field of protection of servicemen’s rights.
