Corresponding official letters were addressed to the criminal prosecution authorities on the cases involving features of apparent crime during the election campaign

The Human Rights Defender's Office has been conducting independent monitoring from the very beginning of the campaign for the elections of the National Assembly.

 

All elections-related incidents that involve features of acts envisaged by the Criminal Code were recorded by the Human Rights Defender and sent to the criminal prosecution authorities, raising the issue of initiating appropriate proceedings, as well as clarifications on the measures taken.

 

In particular, at this moment letters have been addressed on threats towards the RPA candidate Vahan Babayan, on hindering the campaign of “Citizen’s Decision” social-democratic party in Aparan and on other cases.

 

As a reminder, the Human Rights Defender established a Working Group for the purposes of independent monitoring of pre-election and election periods of Parliamentary election to be held on 9 December within the Defender’s mandate prescribed by the Law.

 

During the whole period of election campaign and the Election Day, the Working Group will monitor the alleged violations of electoral rights reported through media on a daily basis. Meanwhile, the Group will ensure proper examination of oral and written complaints addressed to the Defender, including calls received via hotline
