The convict undergoes a surgery, with the support of the Defender

The wife of a prisoner in a penitentiary institution asked for the Human Rights Defender’s support for her husband's double surgery.

The applicant claimed that her husband underwent a  right leg surgery four years ago after a car accident, but he continues to suffer from acute pain.

In the framework of the initiated discussion, information was received from the Ministry of Justice that the convict did not need surgery. However, the examination of the copy of the convict’s medical card showed that the traumatologist had assigned removal of the metal constructions after the fusion of the broken hip bones in a specialized clinic.

The dynamics of the prisoner's health were under the attention of the Defender's Office. During the ongoing work with the Ministry of Justice, the Defender's Office was informed that the convict had been transferred to a civilian hospital and surgery was prescribed to him.

As a result, the convict underwent a surgery within state-guaranteed free medical care, the postoperative period passed smoothly and without complications, he was discharged from the hospital and transferred to the penitentiary institution.
