The number of complaints, addressed to the Human Rights Defender, has increased 10 times

The Human Rights Defender's Office has been receiving an unprecedented number of complaints in recent months.

The number of complaints, received in July, 2018, is 10 times higher in comparison with the same period of the previous two years. The number of citizens, visiting the Defender’s Office, has considerably increased.

Study proves that this index is conditioned by the constant increase in trust towards the Human Rights Defender's Institution (the surveys of international organizations prove the same), as well as by the new public expectations.

These have resulted in work overload. Works are carried out at the fullest extent of resources and effort, often without regulated working hours.

Specifically, if 103 complaints were received in July, 2016 and 158 in the same month of 2017, then 1008 complaints were received in 2018. The number of complaints is 3 times higher in May and June compared to the same months of the previous two years.
