As a result of the Defender’s rapid response, a disabled woman was returned the money she paid at a hospital

A woman with disability called the Human Rights Defender’s 116 hotline and reported that the regional medical center demanded and received money from her for necessary services provided to her, not taking the woman’s disability status into account.

According to the woman, the surgeon demanded payment, claiming that she did not present a referral for entitlement to free medical aid.

The Human Rights Defender’s representative contacted the head of the medical center regarding the issue raised, and through these efforts the payment was returned to the citizen.
