The Human Rights Defender received a complaint that the competent authorities of a country had refused to grant a citizenship to an Armenian on the grounds that he has an Armenian citizenship and had been subjected to a criminal prosecution for evasion from regular military service.
In the framework of discussion of the complaint joint activities were conducted with the RA Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, State Migration Service of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development, as well as with the Police and Prosecutor General’s Office.
As a result, it was revealed that there are no grounds to consider the complainant an Armenian citizen.
The obtained information was sent to the Prosecutor General’s Office for the termination of the criminal prosecution. As a result, the criminal proceedings were terminated on the ground of the lack of corpus delicti.
