Arman Tatoyan received journalist and political science students from Armenia and Georgia

The Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan received journalist and political science students from Armenia and Georgia at the initiative of the founder and board member of the “Democracy Today” NGO, UN special rapporteur on human rights Gyulnara Shaninyan.

 

They got acquainted with the Defender’s mandate, activities and working principles, as well as conventional mandates and talked about international cooperation.

 

Arman Tatoyan highlighted the effective cooperation with the Public Defender of Georgia.

 

The Defender’s representatives presented to the students the state of human rights protection in Armenia, detention conditions in penitentiary institutions, a number of issues concerning the rights of women, children and people with disabilities.

 

During the meeting the role of journalists in ensuring freedom of speech and elimination of hate speech was emphasized.
