The Human Rights Defender applied to the Constitutional Court on ensuring the rights of police officers

The Human Rights Defender applied to the Constitutional Court on ensuring the rights of police officers under criminal prosecution.

The problem is that the police officers who are under criminal prosecution are deprived of their salaries, possibility to resign from their position and to be appointed to another position, except for scientific, pedagogical and innovative work.

In this situation, police officers, without having final judgment proving their guilt, face difficulties in addressing their family’s needs.

As a result, a number of rights are violated, such as right to free choice of work, the right to inviolability of private and family life, prohibition of discrimination, presumption of innocence and the principle of proportionality.
