Following the Defender’s interference, a detainee who went on a hunger strike for 35 days has agreed to receive medical assistance

Yesterday, upon the instruction of the Human Rights Defender, the Defender’s representatives once again visited the detained person that started a hunger strike for 35 days and was in the civil hospital under medical supervision.

During the private interview with the Defender’s representatives, the detainee informed the representative that he refused medical assistance and wanted to be discharged from the hospital as its conditions were not sufficient.

The representatives of the Human Rights Defender, as well as a doctor examined the detained person’s medical documents and living conditions.

In cooperation with medical staff, the detained person was transferred to a separate ward with appropriate conditions.

The detainee who had refused medical assistance throughout his stay of 7 days in a civil hospital agreed to receive medical assistance following the persistence of the Defender’s representatives.
