On June 1, in Strasbourg Arman Tatoyan, the RA Human Rights Defender met with Nils Mogniek, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights.
The process of the work being carried out towards the prevention of torture and ill-treatment in places of detention, in particular, in penitentiary institutions was discussed with the Commissioner. The legislative amendments proposed by the Ombudsman for the protection of the rights of persons deprived of their liberty were also presented.
During the meeting they referred to the functions envisaged by the constitutional law on "Human Rights Defender", the cooperation with the civil society was highlighted.
