Following the clashes in Ijevan, the Human Rights Defender received complaints via hotline

Following today’s clashes between citizens who blocked a street in Ijevan and the police, a number of calls were received via hotline of the Human Rights Defender’s Office.

 

4 of the calls were received from the drivers who have been stuck on the street with their families, including with children and were unable to reach their destination due to the blocking of the streets. From one of the call the Office was informed that due to the clashes police officers and citizens who blocked the streets were transferred to hospital for medical assistance.

 

The Human Rights Defender’s Office is in contact with the police.

 

Under the Defender’s direct supervisor, the Defender’s Office continue to take necessary steps within its mandate with regard to the current situation.
