 New Project will be implemented with UNHCR Representation in Armenia in the field of rights of refugees and asylum seekers

Today, on March 28, the Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan and UNHCR Representative in Armenia Christoph Bierwirth initiated a new project. 

 

Project concerns the analyses of situation on ensuring the rights of refugees and asylum seekers by the Human Rights Defender’s Office. It is also aims at raising awareness on the mandate of the Defender and capacity building of the Office.

 

“I highly value the deep cooperation between two institutions, which is aimed at ensuring the rights of refugees and asylum seekers in Armenia. Our joint efforts during the previous year gives a chance to join the efforts and to ensure proper conditions in order to have tangible results,” mentioned Arman Tatoyan.

 

“Our Collaboration is important, specifically, with regard to the legislative initiatives impacting on displaced populations, to the monitoring of borders and detention facilities and to the international experience exchange, training and technical assistance,” emphasized Christoph Bierwirth.

 

Representatives from UNHCR Office in Armenia, RA State Migration Service of Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development, as well as NGOs acting in the field of rights protection of refugees and asylum seekers also attended the launching of the Project.
