Today, RA Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan received the delegation of the CoE Secretariat. The delegation included the Director of the Political Affairs of the CoE Alexandre Guessel, his deputy Daniil Khochabo, Political Advisor Maxime Longangue, the Head of the CoE Office in Yerevan Natalia Vutova. RA Permanent Representative to the CoE Paruyr Hovhannisyan and the Second Secretary of the CoE Division of the European Department at RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aram Hakobyan were also present at the meeting.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the developments in the performance of Armenia’s obligations following the 2015 July visit to Armenia by the Rapporteur Group on Democracy of the CoE Committee of Ministers.
Highlighting the role and importance of the Defender’s institution, the parties discussed a number of issues concerning bilateral cooperation and the priorities of human rights protection in Armenia. Arman Tatoyan presented the new functions and objectives as prescribed by the Constitutional Law on Human Rights Defender, as well as the cooperation with the civil society.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed readiness to enhance and expand the existing effective cooperation.
