Mr. Arman Tatoyan, RA Human Rights Defender held a telephone conversation with Mr. Nils Muiznieks, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, on December 13. During the conversation the parties exchanged opinions on a number of priorities of mutual interest. The parties also touched upon the RA draft constitutional law on Human Rights Defender.
The RA Human Rights Defender presented to the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights the provisions of the draft law, aimed at expanding the powers of the Institution of Human Rights Defender and concretizing the authorizations of the Defender as National Preventive Mechanism.
The Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights attached importance to the adoption of the draft law, noting that these regulations will foster the efficiency of Human Rights Defender’s activities in Armenia.
