The issues concerning the problem of human rights defense and human rights priority has been discussed with the delegation of the Council of Europe

On May 22, the Human Rights Defender Office welcomed the Council of Europe Delegation, led by Tigran Karapetyan, the head of the Eastern Partnership & Russia Unit of the Human Rights National Implementation Division of the Council of Europe Directorate General of Human Rights and Rule of Law of.

 

During the meeting issues regarding to torture and ill-treatment, protection of human rights in the armed forces, as well as protection of human rights in the social field were discussed.

 

In the course of the meeting “Supporting the criminal justice reform and combating ill-treatment and impunity in Armenia” and “Strengthening the application of European human rights standards in the armed forces” projects implemented between Armenia and the Council of Europe were also addressed.

 

Within the cooperation with the Council of Europe another project is planned to be implemented aimed at evaluating the compliance of national legislation with the standards of the European Social Charter.
