The Defender informed the Head of OSCE/ODIHR Observation Mission in Armenia about monitoring of the extraordinary electoral process

The Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan received the Head of OSCE/ODIHR Observation Mission in Armenia Urszula Gacek.

 

The Defender informed the Head of the observation mission that within the mandate prescribed by the law a working group has been established for the purposes of independent monitoring of pre-election and election period of parliamentary election on 9 December.


The Defender noted that during the whole period of election campaign and on the day of elections the working group will monitor the alleged violations of electoral rights reported through media.

 

Meanwhile, the group will ensure proper examination of oral and written complaints addressed to the Defender, including calls received via hotline.

 

The group will also be responsible for providing legal consultation, receiving citizens, as well as for rapid response visits.

 

The Head of the OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission in Armenia highlighted the role of the Human Rights Defender in guaranteeing the electoral right of people.
