The Defender received the Ambassador of USA to Armenia

 

On November 21, the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan, received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USA to Armenia, Richard Mills, and the head of U.S. Agency for Sustainable Development Layla Andrews Bashani.


Arman Tatoyan presented the Defender's functions and the objectives of the Human Rights Defender's Office as prescribed by the Constitutional Law on the Human Rights Defender and the cooperation mechanisms with the civil society.


"The Human Rights Defender's Office is essential for strengthening human rights in Armenia, and the United State Government is committed to continue our close coordination to support the Ombudsman’s efforts", said Richard Mills.


Arman Tatoyan, highlighting the importance of human rights protection and enhancement of democratic values, confirmed his readiness to cooperate with the Embassy of the USA in the field of human rights protection and to expand the fields of cooperation.
