Freedom of expression should be protected in Artsakh. Rebecca Harms, Chair of the Euronest Delegation

The Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan had an official meeting with Rebecca Harms, Chair of the European Parliament's Delegation to the Euronest, Co-president of the Euronest.

 

Issues related to freedom of expression in Armenia as well as journalistic activities have been discussed. Notably the activities of journalists and human rights defenders in Artsakh have been discussed in details. Arman Tatoyan particularly stressed the importance of the engagement of the Human Rights Defender of Artsakh in international meetings and handed the reports of Ruben Melikyan, Human Rights Defender of Artsakh covering the April atrocities.

 

During the meeting Rebecca Harms stated that the freedom of expression should be protected everywhere, including Nagorno-Karabakh. She stressed the importance of such European values that have universal significance.

 

Issues related to the activities of the Human Rights Defender and cooperation with European Union were discussed as well. A number of agreements have been made for the further mutual cooperation, including with the Human Rights Defender of Armenia.
