The situation with regard to the Shirak State University is under the attention of the Human Rights Defender. The discussion procedure initiated upon own initiative shows that measures taken to solve the raised issues are not enough. This standpoint is also confirmed by the complains addressed to the Defender by a group of students, their parents and some employees of the University, as well as through public concern raised over organizational procedures of elections of Deans and Head of Chairs and the issue of firing lectures as a result of establishment of Scientific Council’s Ethics Commission.
The Defender will address requests to the RA Ministry of Education and Science to immediately solve the raised issues within its competences.
However, considering that this relates to an educational institution, it is necessary to act on the principle of guaranteeing normal educational process in the University.
