A draft law regulating the sphere of TV and radio games has been presented to circulation

The Human Rights Defender's Office has prepared a Draft Law on Making Amendments and Supplements to the RA Law on Television and Radio taking into consideration the complaints addressed to the Ombudsman.

This, in particular, refers to the damages caused to participation of the television game "Odits pogh (money from the air)."

Examination of complaints shows that the RA Law on Games of Chance, Games of Chance through Internet and Casinos, the RA Law on Television and Radio, as well as other related laws do not contain the legal regulation on games of chance broadcasted by TV and radio proposed by the draft, while this legal gap may cause violation of rights in practice.

Therefore, the Defender's Office proposes to amend the RA Law on Television and Radio in a way that broadcasting of similar games would be possible only at night hours, namely from 24.00 to 06.00.

In addition, it proposes that television or radio broadcasters have to publish information on the number of calls and possibility of connection, to inform about paid calls throughout the air, and, at the same time the information on the tariff should be visible or audible.

The draft also foresees to define a warning regarding the prohibition of juveniles’ participation.
