In Strasbourg the Human Rights Defender continued meetings with chiefs of the main directorates of the Council of Europe

Today in Strasbourg the RA Human Rights Defender had meetings with head of the Directorate General Human Rights and Rule of Law of the Council of Europe Mr. Philipe Boillat, head of the Directorate General for Democracy of the Council of Europe Snežana Samardžić-Marković, as well as some other high-ranked officials. 

 

Arman Tatoyan stressed the importance of participation of the Nagorno Karabakh human rights and democratic institutions in international meetings and discussions, taking into account the fact that the atrocities of Azerbaijani armed forced were aimed just against the NKR peaceful population and motivated by the deep hatred toward them. It is especially important to point out that violence is sowed in the conditions of the Azerbaijani aggressive policy.

 

Passing the report and analyses of the NKR Ombudsman to high-level officials of the Council of Europe, Arman Tatoyan presented detailed information about the gross violations of human rights of the NKR civilian population during Azerbaijan’s military aggression, launched in early April, 2016.

 

It was stressed during the meeting that human rights violations are intolerable in any circumstances, regardless the borders or political situation.

 

The necessity of implementation of joint projects, aimed at introduction of European human rights standards in the Republic of Armenia, was also highlighted during the meetings. In particular, it related to the prevention of ill-treatment, children’s rights protection, relations with the civil society, etc. The parties expressed their willingness to actively cooperate in solving the mentioned issues.
