Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan today received Representative of the UNHCR in Armenia Christoph Bierwirth.
The parties discussed issues related to protection of the rights of refugees and asylum seekers and introduction of international standards in this field.
Along with other problems Arman Tatoyan also presented to Christoph Bierwirth detailed information on human rights gross violations against civilian population of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic during the Azerbaijani military aggression in early April.
The parties confirmed their willingness to initiate joint human rights projects and to enlarge relevant cooperation. They stressed the necessity of holding training programs with participation of the personnel of the Ombudsman’s office in protection of the rights of refugees and asylum seekers.
