The Human Rights Defender received the delegation of the World Bank Central Office in Washington

Today, the Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan received the World Bank Central Office delegation led by Eva Melis.

 

The Defender presented the directions and principles of his work. Particularly, Arman Tatoyan informed that an important aspect of his work is the protection of entrepreneurship, which is implemented both through discussions of individual complaints addressed to the Defender, and through preventative measures on a systemic level.  In particular, applications are submitted to the Constitutional Court, special opinions are presented with regard to application in the Constitutional Court related to business, draft laws are prepared, etc.

 

The parties also discussed the measures taken by the state for anti-corruption and the Human Rights Defender’s activities in this field. In particular, Arman Tatoyan noted that the activities in this field are of vital importance, as corruption has a direct negative affect on the protection of human rights.

 

During the meeting, the Human Rights Defender’s participation in the improvement of judicial practice and judicial reforms was also discussed.

 

The parties expressed their willingness to continue the cooperation.
