An extended session of the Advisory Council on Prevention of Torture adjunct to the Human Rights Defender was held

Agenda of the extended session of the Advisory Council on the Prevention of Torture adjunct to the RA Human Rights Defender included questions related to the protection of human rights of people who are deprived of liberty.

 

The representatives of non-governmental organizations in the field of torture and ill-treatment, experts of national preventive mechanism and field specialists took part in the meeting.

 

Questions related to health protection of people deprived of their liberty, forms and filling-in procedure of medical examination protocols related to torture and ill-treatment in detention facilities and their compatibility with international legal principles have been discussed.

 

The session also referred to the question of ensuring the right to education at closed institutions especially for minors and issues related to wall partition visits by close relatives to detention facilities.

 

At the end of the meeting, the participants also discussed issues related to human rights protection at psychiatric institutions.
