From October 11 to October 13, the department exercising the Human Rights Defender’s functions as a National Preventive Mechanism made unannounced visits to places of deprivation of liberty in Vayots Dzor and Syunik, Armenia, specifically to police stations and places of deprivation of liberty of Vayots Dzor and Syunik regional departments, “Goris” penitentiary institution of RA Ministry of Justice and Syunik neuropsychological dispensary.
The conditions of detention, the general situation, as well as their compatibility with domestic and international standards have been examined at mentioned institutions.
Respective written statements are being prepared to be addressed to competent state authorities.
