The representatives of the Human Rights Defender visited Nerses Poghosyan who is on hunger strike

On October 17, the representatives of the Human Rights Defender’s Office made unannounced visit to Nubarashen penitentiary institution of the RA Ministry of Justice.

 

They had a private conversation with Nerses Poghosyna who is on hunger strike, examined his medical documents and detention conditions.

 

During the meeting, N. Poghosyan noted that he had health problems, namely headaches and pain in his stomach and kidney. It was again recorded that Nerses Poghosyan continues to refuse medical care.

 

Relevant discussions were held with the medical staff of the penitentiary institution in regard to his health condition and control over it.

 

Nerses Poghosyan also presented the issues related to the trial of his criminal case which fall out of the Human Rights Defender’s mandate.

 

As a result of the previous visit to N. Poghosyan, the Defender has already sent a relevant written statement to the competent body.
