On July 30, the next day of detention of Armen Martirosyan and David Sanasaryan, the members of “Hello Yerevan” fraction of Yerevan Council of Elders the representatives of the Human Rights Defender visited the place of detention of the Police of RA and had private talks with them. Then, immediately after their detention, the Human Rights Defender of RA personally visited “Nubarashen” Penitentiary Institution of the Ministry of Justice of RA and separately met with A. Martirosyan and D. Sanasaryan.

 

On August 5, 2016 the members of “Hello Yerevan” fraction addressed a public appeal to the RA Human Rights Defender, asking for the Defender’s support in order to change the chosen precautionary measure towards A. Martirosyan and D. Sanasaryan.

 

Taking into account the results of private talks with A. Martirosyan and D. Sanasaryan, as well as the circumstances of the appeal of the “Hello Yerevan” fraction of the Yerevan Council of Elders, a discussion procedure has been started by the decision of the Defender. Then, within the scope of his competence, the Human Rights Defender of RA has summed up the information provided by A. Martirosyan and D. Sanasaryan and sent to the  acting Prosecutor General of RA in order to discuss it within the scope of preliminary investigation.
