The systemic problems stated in the reports of the Defender will be resolved: cooperation with the National Assembly is being strengthened

In order to discuss and find solutions to the problems recorded in the reports of the Defender, today the Defender's representatives met with the experts of the Standing Commission for the Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs and assistants of Deputies in the National Assembly.

"Cooperation between the National Assembly and the Office of the Human Rights Defender is especially important in the context of the Defender's implementation of the constitutional function of improving regulatory legal acts. This implies a joint resolution of the legislative problems raised by the Defender as a result of the consideration of individual complaints and monitoring activities. These issues, as well as concrete proposals for their solution, are stated both in annual reports and also in special reports," said Defender's Advisor, Representative of the Defender in the National Assembly, Sergey Ghazinyan.

In the course of the meeting the representatives of the Human Rights Defender presented the directions of the Defender's work, the problems recorded in the monitoring of closed institutions, as well as the authority to submit a special opinion to the Constitutional Court and address an application.

Deputy Assistants and Committee Experts raised issues related to human rights protection and asked about the steps taken by the Defender in separate areas.

An agreement was reached to make the meeting-discussions continuing, focusing on the issues in specific areas and formulating proposals.
