The Human Rights Defender and the civil society will prepare special submission on the execution of ECHR judgments

A discussion took place at the Human Rights Defender’s Office on special submissions presented within the framework of Rule 9 of the Rules of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers’ supervision of the execution of judgments.

“I emphasize the importance of providing submissions on a regular basis for the execution of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights for the purpose of eliminating future violations and of implementing the necessary legal and practical amendments. In this process we will continue our cooperation with the relevant departments of the Council of Europe and the Armenian civil society as well,” noted the RA Human Rights Defender Mr. Arman Tatoyan during his opening remarks at the discussion organized by the Council of Europe and the Human Rights Defender’s Office.

The Head of Division in the Department for the Execution of Judgments of the European Court of Human Rights Mr. Pavlo Pushkar, a lawyer from the same division Mr. Vahe Demirchyan, a representative from the Armenian Government representation before the ECHR, the representatives of the civil society and the Defender discussed the necessity to prepare and present a joint position of the civil society representatives and the Defender.

Participants agreed to translate the handbook for NGOs, injured parties and their legal advisers on implementation of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights and to organize a special seminar.

It should be recalled that for the first time in the history of Armenia’s Human Rights Defender’s institution Dr. Arman Tatoyan presents special positions to the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers which concerns the execution of the ECHR judgments in respect of Armenia.
