During an unannounced visit to Shirak region the conditions of the temporary cells for keeping persons deprived of their liberty of the court were examined

The representatives of the Human Rights Defender conducted an unannounced visit to the Shirak Distinct Court of First Instance in Gyumri and Maralik and examined the temporary cells of the court for keeping persons deprived of their liberty.

 

During the visit, the keeping conditions, the state of rights protection of persons that are kept there and its compliance with the established international standards were checked. 

 

As a result of the monitoring, issues with regard to the access to drinking water, the separation of bathroom and the lighting in cells were revealed.

 

The issues were discussed with the Head of the Office of the Shirak Distinct Court of First Instance. To address the revealed issues, relevant written letters will be sent to the RA Judicial Department.
