Human Rights Defender is in Georgia on an official visit

Today, the delegation headed by the RA Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan, who is in Tbilisi with an official visit, met the Public Defender of Georgia Ucha Nanuashvili.

 

During the meeting the Georgian colleague presented the structure and the main directions of the activities of the Public Defender’s Office of Georgia to the RA Human Rights Defender, in particular, the amount of the work and the principles of its organization, the activities of the national preventive mechanism, issues related to the protection of rights of women and children, as well as issues related to the human rights education.

 

In his turn, Arman Tatoyan talked about the Office of the Ombudsman in Armenia, activities of the Office and planned legislative amendments in the sphere. The issues, related to the improvement of the mechanisms for insuring human rights during the initial period of the deprivation of liberty, have also been discussed.

 

The parties have also agreed to take steps in order to enhance the cooperation in the protection of human rights, awareness raising and exchange of experience. At the end of the meeting Arman Tatoyan invited his Georgian colleague to Armenia.
