The Helsinki Association has issued a statement on personal threats and persecutions towards lawyer Arayik Papikyan. The announcement states that the lawyer receives threatening emails related not only to him but also to his family members.
Any manifestation of such a phenomenon towards a lawyer in connection with professional activities is unacceptable and criminally punishable. The law enforcement bodies should immediately initiate a proceeding in connection with this issue.
It is known at the moment that A. Papikyan has presented the crime report to the law enforcement bodies. A letter has already been sent by the Human Rights Defender to the law enforcement bodies.The Defender’s Office is also in contact with Mr. A. Papikyan.
