The Human Rights Defender’s Office received a report that Levon Barseghyan has been detained and criminal procedure has been initiated towards him without legal ground and the visit of his attorney is obstructed.
On the basis of the report the Defender’s representatives visited Shengavit Police Unit and met with Levon Barseghyan, the president of “Aspares” Journalist’s Club of Gyumri. The Defender’s representatives conducted a private conversation with Levon Barseghyan and contributed to his meeting with the attorney.
Based on the information received by the report and during the visit the Defender made a decision on starting discussion procedure on his own initiative and the relevant explanations by the criminal proceeding body have alredy been requested.
